ETTE-CLUSIVE: 'I didn’t' - Albanese denies calling Grace Tame ‘difficult’

In a text message exchange seen by Ette Media, the Prime Minister denies he called Grace Tame difficult.

In the hours after the Prime Minister declared Grace Tame was ‘difficult’ during an on-stage word association game with a Herald Sun journalist, Anthony Albanese unconvincingly tries to qualify his controversial comment.

In a message exchange seen by Ette Media, a member of the public sent a text to the Labor leader asking: “if you regret calling Grace Tame difficult and if you have any comments on the situation?”

Ette Media has verified the number belongs to the Prime Minister and was exposed in an online data breach, which we revealed in late 2025.

Albanese denies calling Tame “difficult", replying “I didn’t”.  “Grace has had a difficult life” – also calling the word association game “silly”.

Albanese’s semantic sidestep did not seem to convince the person asking the question…which is why they shared the text exchange with us.

Well, we agree with the Prime Minister on both counts -- the game was indeed silly and the former Australian of the Year has indeed had a difficult life -- being a survivor of child sexual assault whose abuser is still harrassing her but was ruled just days ago medically unfit to stand trial for his latest alleged crimes.

But the real silliness here is Anthony Albanese playing footsie with the Murdoch media.
