If there’s one thing I’ve been reminding myself of this week, it’s the power and importance of independent media. 

Mainstream media journalists utterly failed to interrogate Pauline Hanson at the National Press Club this week. and then analysis pieces that followed gave the One Nation leader a high-five for just showing up.  (You’ll hear more about this in the latest episode of Only Fran, which you can listen to here).

But you know who came through with the analysis and fact-checking? Independent media, doing the Lord’s work. I know it might sound like I’m trying to toot our own horn, but I’m really not. It’s easy to feel crazy and gaslit in this industry, but independent journalists are the balm to my soul. To all our fellow indie content creators who may be reading this: keep doing what you’re doing. 

And speaking of independent media and how it speaks truth to power, here are the stories you might have missed this week.
