Stories about the fuel crisis in Australia, Cyclone Narelle, the Iran “war” and Kyle and Jackie O have been saturating our feeds this week (and look we’re as guilty of yapping about Kyle and Jackie O as much as anyone else - apologies).
However, there have been some important stories that haven’t been picked up by mainstream media (some at all) that we reckon need a spotlight. So, this week we’re sharing three underreported yarns that you might have missed but should know about.
There's also a new Only Fran episode here (but more on that later in the newsletter).
Israeli female soldiers healing in Australia, Australian Jewish News

A few Etterati brought to our attention that IDF soldiers are in Australia to “heal” and do “puppy yoga” after their deployment in Gaza. \
While Australian Jewish News first shared this story on 15 March (Sunday), along with a photo of the smiling group, who are part an army the UN Commission of Inquiry, several human rights organisations and many leading genocide scholars say is committing a genocide, this wasn't picked up by any commercial media or public broadcasters.
By Friday, independent outlet Deepcut News reported that The Australia Palestine Advocacy Network (APAN) had accused the federal government of double standards for granting visas to people serving in an army committing a genocide while anti-genocide protesters are “silenced”, “restricted” and in some cases arrested.
Islamic media production company One Path Network also posted about the soldiers to its Facebook, writing “while Israeli soldiers are granted entry and support, Palestinian civilians facing mass displacement, bombardment, and humanitarian collapse remain largely absent from similar pathways.” Unsurprisingly, this outrage is nowhere to be found in mainstream news.
The bodycam footage of Stevie Lee's death is horrific. The Qld Coroner refuses to release it.
